A few words (ramblings) about poetry & me...
Just had to say thanks to Lauren & Lori for telling me how much they love what I write. You guys inspired me to come up with something & tonight just felt right to go with it.
Thanks! Writing is so wonderful for me. As you can tell, I am a romantic & sometimes get lost in music, dance & fantasy. I've always been that way. There are 2 poems that I will have to find that are my favorites. One is about a ghost who waits for her lost love & in the second one they find each other. Showing anyone my poems is a huge step for me. I've been writing since the age of 10 (give or take) & not too many have ever read my words. Guess fear of rejection would be too hard to bare. When you write, its like showing your heart & soul to people - letting people be very close to you. Its weird & I dont know if it makes any sense at all.. but its just totally exposing yourself to the world.
In 11th grade for English we had to turn in a couple of poems, and my English teacher was just excited over one of mine & told me about the book of poems that students were putting together. She wanted MY poem to be in it! How exciting! I was nervous for my peers to read ME on paper, but yet I was so excited at the same time. But of course, my poem never made it in. The English teacher was upset & apologized repeatedly. I just said no worries - whatever, but inside I was so heart broken & disappointed.
Then on a website about 5 years ago or so, I started to write poems & even have a couple of books with my poems in it.. but this site is kind of falls encouragement because you have to pay $50 for this book. Something tells me that the only time your work "appears" its when you pay for it. But that was the first time my family ever really read some of my poems. And they loved them.
And now to have my friends love them, and being able to write a beautiful poem for Lauren's Felicia, was the greatest. Usually I cant write like that - on demand on a certain subject - but I really wanted to do something wonderful for Lauren & it just flowed out. Thats probably a once in a lifetime event!
Anyways thanks to my dear friends for encouraging me to write. It brings me peace and comfort when I write.. hard to explain. Thanks for the great feelings though guys & hope you enjoy the words I create.

I didn't realize that you were creative at a young age too. I know it must have been sad for the poem not to hit the book but at least your teacher saw how much talent you have :)
I will never be able to say enough thank you's to you for the Felisha Poem :) Hugs!
It must be so hard to let those feelings come out in your poems.
You are an amazing poet -
Keep writing -
:-)
