9/11/01 ~ Never Forget

Say a prayer for those that lost
Their lives that day
Everyone of them are heroes
We must remember them that way.
J & I just watched the Discovery channel on 9/11 the other day. The survivors from the Towers told their amazing stories of survival. It was so difficult to not cry . Its so amazing how some of them survived. One man saw the plane coming directly into his window & was so stunned, he just stood there. What saved him was jumping under his desk. He was even stunned he was still alive. A few firefighters & a woman they were trying to help down the stairs were in the 2nd tower when it collapsed. They were lucky to have been where they were - the way it fell it left a little area open for them & they were able to be saved. Such miracles.
One poor man felt guilty for leaving 2 men behind. 2 men came across a man who couldnt go on, whether from fight or fatigued. The 2 men tried for quiet a few floors to get him to fight to live. At one point he gave up again. Figured there was still 38 floors left & he would never make it. The 2nd man tried to get him to fight to live & drag him down. The 3rd man tried to help & then at one point saved himself. The other 2 did not make it.
The 3rd has regrets & called himself a coward, but you can only stay behind & try to save someone for so long.
There was a 9/11 poem that I had written, but cant find it. And for some reason, cant create a new one except for the few lines above.
All that we can do on this 5 year anniversary of such a horrible day is remember & honor those poor souls who did nothing wrong, but go to work, or got on a plane that day.
May their souls rest in peace, may the survivors & the families left behind, find peace in their hearts & souls.
God bless them. God bless America & keep us safe.

That was a beautiful post janet. I love the picture, the flag is a nice added touch.
When you find your poem on 9/11, post it. I would love to read it - you are so good at capturing the feelings and emotions in your poetry.
