Catching up ~ Recap of Black Friday
Survived Black Friday but wished we went somewhere other than Circuit City. I will NEVER EVER shop there again. We stayed up all night, got in line about 2:30.. this family comes up & the girl steps right in front of me... im like excuse me.. so then i just moved over to the other side of my sister. No hard feelings or anything, we smiled at the family later on... but they continued to squeeze up against us during the night - it was like could you please let me breath! One of the guys we were hugged up against was pretty funny. His sons were in switching off & on in line. One of them was a stinking riot. I heard him talking how he was going to run over everyone & grab what he needed..so joking around I had mentioned that wasnt the way to have the Christmas spirit when you're gift shopping... He goes Honey, Im not here for anyone else but myself... Then he started to sing & it was annoying .. we were all thankful when he left. Then when he came back - he was singing some good tunes..he kept us entertained & made the time go by.
Then CC people started to show up for 4am to pass out vouchers. If you got a voucher, you were guaranteed to get that hot seller on sale. So we all had to get in a single file line... some guy came by asking who was there for the laptap... he said we would be all set.... then 15 min. later - they said they passed out all the vouchers for the laptop & thats it. Hello??? what do you mean?? YOU said we were all set.... they never even made it past the front of the line. Oh well..we pouted... we got over it. My sister got the voucher for the computer she wanted... so after all the vouchers were gone... we went back to the car to warm up (could NOT feel our toes) then we ran back into the store at opening time.
It was unbelieveable. In about 20 minutes the lines were an hour long. I couldnt find any of the dvd's they said were on sale... finally Debbie asked around & I guess they had them in bins scattered throughout the store. Well hello - whos gonna see them in the midst of 300 people? So anyway... we asked this guy if it mattered what line you should be in for the computer even though the departments were listed separately, would we be able to purchase everything we had at one location, since we also had dvds & cd.. he pointed to the line closest to the exit & said you HAVE to stand in this line.
So I stand in the hour & whatever long line while Debbie walks around & then goes to the service desk to pick up the portable dvd player. They told her we were in the wrong line. So i said to Deb - too bad. They directed us to this line, we're almost at the end - we are NOT going to the back of another hour long line. So we get up there & the cashier tells us the same thing - cant pay for that here. So we nicely say - that s not fair Taylor over there said we HAD to wait in this line. So at first we thought we were going to be taken care of, the manager went & got the computer & brought it up to the front desk & said it could be paid for up there. The girl at the register was watching this whole thing transpire. So Debbie just goes down the list of thing on the computer with this other guy to make sure nothing had to be purchased separately. She had to sign up for AOL & was gone for like an hour.. I almost told her to pay for every thing first.. too bad I didnt because now at this point, we could have changed lines & had been out faster. Tried calling her cell phone, no answer. At this point its 8:30 & im exhausted... so i left her a message: Did they kidnap you??? IM WAITING! So she finally comes up like geez that took forever... she waits for the people who are standing near the front desk to be helped before she pays for her stuff. I say gotta go sit down, i'll be in the car. Call me when you're done & i'll pull up to the front.
So Im waiting & waiting & freezing... tried to warm up the car - but then everyone thinks you're leaving - so had to sit in the cold... Im wondering where she is... ready to go in.. callling her phone.. no answer. Finally she comes to the car & im like where's all your stuff????? She said the girl at the regeister told her she had to go to the back register to pay for it. My sister was like you saw the manager bring this up here for crying out loud, and he said i could pay for it up here. So the girl gave her a hard time & she said you know what , I've had enough of this. I felt so bad for her. Told her she had to leave with something after waiting all that time in line. I was going to go back in with her & demand they ring her up or cut someone off in the line we were suppose to be in since we've been basically waiting in line for 2 hrs. But she just wanted to go home she was so upset.
Now Im sure the people who work there were tired, and stressed due to the volume of people, but I've never seen such an unfriendly, unorganized store. Managers were arguing with customers who ordered on line for in store pick up that obvisiously wasnt working. One woman just wanted the manager to write on her receipt that she didnt pick up her item & he wouldnt....one guy paid for something he didnt get cuz they were out of it & the girl at the front at first gave him the biggest attitude & wasnt trying to help him with it. He didnt want his money back, he just wanted someone to write on his receipt that the store was out of stock, so he could come back at a later date for it. She finally lost her attitude & helped him.
I think next year, Im going to work & going to enjoy going to work!
